The map of Dunbar Castles and Estates made its debut. Although I provided much of the historical information for this map, I’m mentioning it because it was a major collaborative effort and a significant achievement for the Clan. This map has long been a dream of Susan Mattern, our L&T Editor. In the past year Susan, Debra and I put our heads together, trying to develop a plan of attack. We first produced a list of key Dunbar sites, and I then did some research to provide a short historical description of each. But when it came to the map itself, we were stumped. To the rescue came David, who said “I can do that. I’m a mapmaker!” It will promote Clan Dunbar, helping clan members and others understand the massive scope and holdings of our Dunbar ancestors in Scotland.
